  He reached a hand out to her, and she took that as her cue to push the stroller forward. He knelt next to it, placing a large hand over the sleeping baby. “This is Mia Elena Ross.”

  Her throat tightened as it always did hearing their daughter’s name. She was named for both her mom and Danny’s.

  “She’s my daughter. And she’s…” Danny broke off, needing a second to compose himself. “She’s everything. She’s only a few months old, but she’s smart. I can tell.”

  Amy chuckled at that, because from what she’d seen their daughter was good at drinking, sleeping and pooping. They were working on eating solid food, but if Danny saw their daughter as a genius, who was she to argue?

  “And that’s Amy. Mia’s mom. She’s amazing, too. Mom you’d love her. She runs a clothing store and designs a lot of the clothes for it. Some person from Hollywood even came in and bought a lot of her designs for some movie star.”

  That had literally happened two days ago, and Amy was still reeling. She’d spent the majority of her pregnancy busting her ass to get her clothes from brain to paper to sewing machine. The long hours had paid off, and now the clothes designed by her were the fastest selling items in her shop.

  “I’m hoping she’ll be my wife, but she may be too smart to take me on for life.”

  She smiled at that, staring off into the distance, trying to give Danny privacy with his parents. He’d insisted she come along today.

  “Amy.” Something in Danny’s tone made her look back at him where he was still kneeling at the stroller, but now he didn’t have his hand on Mia. Instead he was holding something tiny and shiny. Something that looked remarkably like a…

  “Will you? Marry me?” He held the ring up, and she stared at it, shocked. They’d discussed marriage before, but in a vague kind of way, as in something they’d do in the future when parenting a newborn wasn’t all-consuming.

  She must’ve been silent too long, because his expression darkened and he pulled the ring back to his chest. She collapsed onto her knees in front of him and snatched the ring out of his hands. “Give that over here. Of course I’ll marry you.”

  “For real?”

  She grinned. “Of course. But nothing fancy. I’m a courthouse kind of girl. Let’s spend the money instead on a kick-ass honeymoon.”

  His gaze remained locked on her, but he spoke to his parents. “Hear that? She’s a genius. I’m the luckiest man in Miami.”

  She leaned in to kiss him, and both their hands naturally found the other’s, then rested in the shelter of the stroller. When they broke apart, she said, “You may be the luckiest man, but I’m the most blessed woman.” They resumed kissing until he pulled back.

  “I don’t want to be in the Herald tomorrow for being caught having sex in a cemetery, so we need to leave.”

  She laughed. They drove home rapidly where they did not make love because Mia had woken up and decided her needs trumped her parents.

  Cuddling next to Danny as she watched him feed their baby, Amy felt only peace, knowing that her man might not be perfect, but he was perfect for her.
